The Society works extend to about thousand villages distributed over the states of
Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal. Our various intervention areas include health,
agriculture, education, SHG formation and the ecology. Most of the project areas are
economically backward with inadequate infrastructure, dismal employment opportunities and
lack of basic civil amenities.
Moreover, they are routinely subject to the vagaries of nature such as cyclones and
inundation by saline water in the sunderbans; chronic cycles of drought and flood in North
Bengal; Jharkhand and the parts of Orissa where we work are arid with poor top soil.
Besides, several of these areas are now under the control of the ultra Left which believes
and implements a policy of armed revolution against the Government. |
