  Projects :

COMPONENTS
INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING PROGRAMME

There was a strong felt need throughout the HO and the Projects for a computerised MIS. Developing this has been a major achievement of TSRD. This has enabled improved resource tracking, project and field management. Apart from continous two -way information flows, needs in training and capacity building at all levels of the organisation and its projects can now be more readily identified. Besides, this improves transparency and, thereby, improves the organisation's image and strengthens donor relations.

MONITORING

Various training programmes are arranged regularly to upgrade TSRD personnel. This is done at the Head Office, Project and Community levels to ensure everyone is at a similar level of professional competence within the project. In our globalised world, networking has taken on a whole new meaning. Thus, training provides the right direction and builds capacity to run projects optimally.

TRAINING

The Society's committment to continous learning and of enhancing its knowledge base and skill formation are inbuilt through its own Design, Training, Monitoring, MIS, Documentation, Research and Evaluation units under the Institutional Strengthening Programme. The ISP programme commenced in 1996 and, despite financial hardships, is ongoing.

In an age where continous change is the only constant, ISP aims to combine humanitarism and professionalism in the present socio-political development context. TSRD intends to promote skill formation at grass root level which would help provide a more conducive development environment for the rural poor and underprivileged.

Benefits of the ISP (Institutional Strengthening Programme)

Systemising planning , monitoring and evaluation issues and including all stakeholders in these aspects of the programme

A pilot project was initiated in 1993. Its success paved the way for a scale up program from 1994 onwards. Over the years, more than 12 thousand hectares have been planted with over 22 million seedling/saplings. The programme is operational in all the ten project areas and in command areas of two associate organizations. In each project area quite a number of permanent nurseries are maintained for smooth supply of seedlings/saplings. The programme is implemented with direct community participation and with resource and technical support from the Society.
