Introduction
In 1979 TSRD started working in Pakur district of Jharkhand (the then Bihar) from the block namely Maheshpur, the adjacent area with West Bengal but agriculture is seldom possible in this area dew to scarcity of water, and rocky red soil is not suitable for agriculture. Once upon a time this part of Chhotonagapur Plateau was full of forest coverage. The dominant community is ultra poor illiterate schedule tribe like Santhals, Paharia etc. Industrial development has not yet been possible due to its drought prone character and the entire area in mono crop rain fed.
