  Tapan Project:  
 
  Tapan Project is located at South Dinajpur district. Bordering Bangladesh, there is high incidence of child labour and trafficking. On the other hand, droughts and floods are recurrent events in the area. This old alluvial land is marked by numerous tanks and marshes formed by overflowing rivers and interspersed with ravines. Agriculture is the main occupation but largely restricted to a single crop.

The majority of the population is Santhal. In 1976 the Society stepped into the area to extend relief service after a flood devastated the area.

Tapan project has been undertaking various interventions for the poor and underpriviledged people of this area.

Interventions
Focussing on Education programmes, the Society is implementing its activities for comprehensive rural development like running evening schools to rehabilitate child labour and non-formal schools for drop outs, encouraging group savings, generating income through on farm and off farm sources, canal (Khari) and tank excavation.
  In its health interventions, the Society provides basic health care which includes Reproductive and Child Health care, identifying and treating common ailments, generating awareness on promotive and preventive health. On the social front, TSRD organizes awareness camps on social evils like dowry, child marriage etc. Moreover, gender sensitisation and women's empowerment are also areas which the Society emphasizes.
